Symptoms of Hemorrhoids:
There are generally two types of hemorrhoids:
- Internal hemorrhoids. These types of hemorrhoids are usually not able to be seen or felt. Irritation from stool can cause these hemorrhoids to bleed. Because internal anal membranes lack pain-sensitive nerve fibers, these hemorrhoids usually don't cause discomfort. Sometimes straining can push these hemorrhoids throught the anal opening which can cause pain.
- External hemorrhoids. These are the type of hemorrhoids that are very painfull. Sometimes blood may pool in an external hemorrhoid and form a clot (thrombus), causing severe pain, swelling and inflammation. If irritated, external hemorrhoids can bleed.
